About Me

Savita Pereira (she/they) is a composer and arranger with experience writing for symphony orchestra, mixed ensemble, and a cappella. Her compositional style is colorful and textured, with a foundation of intimate percussion and vocals paired with a lush, sweeping orchestra that in the end creates something adventurous and mysterious and compelling. Recently, she released her debut orchestral concept album Starfallen.

In 2023, Savita was selected for Paramount and MTV’s inaugural First Time Composers initiative, where she trained under film music and sync industry professionals alongside a cohort of thirteen international composers. During this program, she was mentored by award-winning film music supervisor Matthew Hearon-Smith. This year, she attended a songwriting camp for sync music at the legendary Sound Factory recording studio in Hollywood, collaborating with her cohort members on songs from a variety of genres——from experimental dance to trailer pop.

Formed out of a childhood hobby of transcribing her favorite soundtracks to piano (since sheet music costs money), Savita now has extensive experience arranging orchestral and mixed ensemble works in a variety of genres. She was a lead arranger/orchestrator for a 70-piece community orchestra in Davis, CA from 2019 to 2023. Savita wrote thirteen arrangements of video game music in a variety of genres, ranging from symphonic to big band jazz to rock. Such video games included Final Fantasy and Genshin Impact. Recently, she arranged big band-style horns for Daivik's debut single "Satisfied."

As an award-winning a cappella arranger, Savita has worked on several songs combining both Western and South Asian pop music and classical traditions. She has arranged music by Hozier, Fall Out Boy, Sid Sriram, and A.R. Rahman, as well as classical South Asian thillanas and raags. She was awarded “Outstanding Arrangement” at the national a cappella competition Awaazein 2023, for her rendition of “Heaven’s Gate” by Fall Out Boy. She currently serves on the board for the Association of South Asian A Cappella (ASA), a non-profit organization that hosts the competition circuit and promotes the growth of the South Asian A Cappella genre.

These experiences——as well as graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition——have greatly influenced Savita’s musicality, inspiring her to create music that blends various genres, hoping in the process to discover something new about each one.

She is currently open to working on any projects such as films, video games, animations, etc. Savita uses notation software for arranging and orchestrating as well as the Logic Pro DAW for composition and production, mixing and mastering.

Let’s work together.
